Moment, expert in digital service portals dedicated to the transport industry, has been selected to deploy its exclusive content solutions
MOOD and MOOD TV are accessible aboard three Brittany Ferries’ vessels, supporting the operator’s passenger experience strategy. These systems allow passengers to enjoy the best entertainment selection throughout their journey, on board and in the cabin through services such as “video on demand”.
Brittany Ferries, a European leader in maritime transport, has been operating for 50 years from France. Today it serves 12 ports in 4 countries with a fleet of 12 ships. As it emerges from Covid, the ferry company is actively working on new business opportunities establishing new routes and bringing a more sustainable and better-equipped fleet to market.
As part of its fleet renewal program, Brittany Ferries has made the passenger experience a priority. In addition to traditional services on board like bars, boutiques and cinemas, the company has therefore committed to providing an enhanced passenger experience by offering video on demand on its newest ships.
To achieve these new goals, Brittany Ferries turned to Moment.
Beyond working on the technical architecture of the content portal, Moment designed the user experience for ships that typically carry around 1,000 passengers. The aim was to deliver a high-quality viewing experience and user-friendly interfaces through Wi-Fi on personal devices and on Smart TVs inside Passenger and Crew Cabins as well as in communal passenger spaces.
MOOD and MOOD TV are agile content solutions by Moment that enable it to deliver a VOD content package that includes films, children’s programs, documentaries, podcasts, press, music playlists and games through user-friendly interfaces. Content is available in French, English and Spanish, the languages spoken by nearly all the company’s passengers. A Live TV offering has also been developed with fifty French and British channels, as well as radio stations and linear television channels.
“Video on demand is an important step we have taken to meet the demands of passengers for our newest vessels,” said Joelle Croc, director of onboard customer experience at Brittany Ferries. “This is why we turned to Moment. Content is now accessible from personal devices and TVs on board, delivering a more enjoyable journey for all passengers, particularly on longer routes, such as those connecting Spain with the UK.”
“We are proud to partner with Brittany Ferries. Alongside providing technological solutions, our job is also to advise our customers and implement a content services strategy that meets the specificities of their passengers,” says Tanguy Morel, CEO and co-founder of Moment. “We believe that an intuitive entertainment portal, suitable for everyone, easily accessible, associated with a large exclusive catalog remains of great interest for passengers and to ensure their comfort at sea.”
The content portal developed by Moment is already accessible on three Brittany Ferries ships: Salamanca, Santoña and Pont-Aven
About Brittany Ferries:
Brittany Ferries was conceived in 1972, starting life as a freight-only service on 2nd January the following year. The first ferry (Kerisnel) linked Roscoff in Brittany with Plymouth in the South of England and carried a cargo of cauliflowers and cognac. Since then, the company has progressively launched, then strengthened its shipping routes. This year, Brittany Ferries celebrates 50 years at sea. Millions of passengers and businesses transporting goods by sea across the so-called Atlantic Arc (France, UK, Spain, and Ireland) rely on the links forged over the decades. In addition to cutting congestion and emissions on busy roads, these motorways of the sea have helped enrich local communities, creating jobs, nurturing international tourism.
